Learn how to update, add, and delete records and images.

Update records

Vernon CMS automatically updates your Browser website when you change data in your records.

When you edit and save a published record, Web Messenger sends those changes to your website.

If you want to add a field to your published records, follow these steps:

  1. In Vernon CMS, go to Reporting and open your XML Export report.
  2. Go to Edit Report Template and then Select Fields.
  3. Add the new field to your report.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In Vernon Browser, go to Appearance > Object > Collection Fields.
  6. Find the field and select Enable.
  7. Click Save.

Add records

  1. In Vernon CMS, open the Object > Administration & Risk Assessment window for the object.
  2. In the Published Collection table, enter the relevant published collection term.
  3. Click Save.

Web Messenger will automatically detect the record and publish it to your Browser website.

Delete records

You can quickly remove a record from Vernon Browser if it’s urgent. Make sure you change its publication status in Vernon CMS or it will be published again when any data in the record changes.

  1. In Vernon Browser, go to Import & Delete > Delete > Delete Object.
  2. On the Delete Object page, enter the Object ID and select Find Object.
  3. Check that it’s the right record, then select Delete.

To permanently remove a record from Browser, follow these steps:

  1. In Vernon CMS, open the Object > Administration & Risk Assessment window for the object.
  2. In the Published Collection table, remove the published collection term.
  3. Click Save.

Web Messenger will automatically detect that the record should no longer be published.

Delete images

You can quickly remove an image by deleting the associated record from Vernon Browser.

To permanently remove an image from Vernon Browser, follow these steps:

  1. In Vernon CMS, open the Photo/Audio-Visual > Identification window for the image.
  2. In the Publication Status field, select No public access and click Save.
  3. Open the ObjectIdentification window for the object and click Save.

By saving the Object record, Web Messenger will detect the change to the image's publication status.
